Anton J. Benjamin

The precursors of Anton J. Benjamin GmbH include the Leipzig music publishers N. Simrock, D. Rahter and City and date back to the 18th century. Simrock, founded in 1793, can be considered one of the oldest companies in the music industry. Forcibly sold under National Socialism, the Hamburg-based Benjamin publishing group was returned to the family of former owner Richard Schauer in the 1950s. Since 2002 it has formed part of the Boosey & Hawkes group.

The Benjamin catalogue includes contemporary music composers from Germany as well as much-played original editions and arrangements of works by Brahms, Dvorák and Tchaikovsky. Most recently, Simrock has published a scholarly-critical edition of the works of Luigi Cherubini with well-known opera highlights and rediscoveries for stage and concert.
